THE ROLE 

The Director, M&A and Corporate Development will work directly with the company's executive team to identify and analyze merger, acquisition and divestiture opportunities. This position will evaluate potential acquisition opportunities, execute acquisitions and collaborate with our business leaders to lead an effective integration. He/she will work in partnership with the company to develop models and scenarios to support corporate development and M&A, as well as setting the hypotheses, timelines and forecasts to achieve business and performance objectives. He/she will also be responsible for the development and implementation of the company's M&A strategy.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

  • Maintain an understanding of business investment needs
  • Design and develop the company's M&A strategy to create an efficient and replicable process
  • Proactively work to identify M&A opportunities and maintain a database of potential M&A targets
  • Identify and analyze M&A and divestment opportunities. Evaluate and strategize on transaction opportunities
  • Supervise and participate in the preparation of financial, qualitative and evaluation analyses. Perform financial modeling, review and create scenarios and sensibility analyses to support business development and M&A decisions
  • Oversee due diligence efforts and work in coordination with relevant business leaders and support staff to complete all aspects of due diligence review
  • Define and negotiate terms of transactions
  • Interact frequently with senior management and business leaders, transaction advisors and acquisition targets
  • Maintain technical knowledge of internal and external global standards for M&A and business development opportunities
  • Provide guidance to employees, manage third party consultants and advise the executive team as needed
  • Develop and maintain relationships with market participants and investment bankers
  • Prepare memos or presentations for Board approval of transactions
  • Coordinate with Human Resources, IT, Legal and other functional departments to ensure a successful closing and integration
  • Support the business in all aspects of the integration, including strategic planning, establishing timelines and tracking action steps relative to the plan
  • Support the monitoring of the financial performance of the acquired businesses and preparation of reports on budget execution

WHAT YOU’LL NEED

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in science or arts required. Graduate degree (J.S.D., M.B.A., Master's degree) preferred

Experience

  • Minimum of ten 10 years in finance, including a minimum of 5 years of M&A experience in corporate development, investment banking, transaction advisory and/or private investment funds

Knowledge and Skills

  • Strong accounting, financial, communication, leadership, collaboration and partnership, and analytical skills are essential
  • Proven ability to manage financial forecasting and budgeting
  • Knowledge of all phases of the acquisition process;
  • Previous due diligence review experience required, particularly in financial due diligence review
  • Thorough understanding of valuation methodologies
  • Team player and attention to detail
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, and complex and competing projects while maintaining a professional attitude
  • Express a thoughtful leadership approach with others and a team-oriented attitude in all interactions as a Circle K employee
  • Knowledge of the retail industry preferred
  • Proactive approach to learning new skills and accelerated learning curve;
  • Strong knowledge of MS Excel and PowerPoint
